Physics based puzzle game Polarity is now available on Android

Blue Button Games will soon be bringing their physics-based puzzle game Polarity over to Android. Currently this game is on Steam Greenlight as it attempts to get enough votes to be officially launched on Steam. Polarity also happens to fully support the Oculus Rift as well which would actually make playing this game pretty entertaining to say the least.

While you might not be able to enjoy the whole virtual reality thing with Polarity if youre playing it on your Android device, unless you tape your phone to your head, this game will still be rather enjoyable to play judging from what we have seen and played in the demo version. In this game youll be playing as someone who is hired to hack into secure virtual worlds to steal data which you then exchange for cash.

This game features polarity switching which weve seen pop up on the rare occasion in other games such as Polara. You will need to switch your color to do a multitude of tasks ranging from opening gates to dodging various hazards and traps. There are all kinds of events going on in this game as well including rotating rooms and puzzles to solve.

If the Android version contains all the content that the Steam version of this game will have then we can expect to see 20 levels when the game is initially released. There is also the possibility that Polarity will have local co-op multiplayer as well. As for when this game will arrive on Google Play, the developer is looking to have it out hopefully within a months time if all goes well.

Falcon Pro users have had a front-row seat to quite a bit of drama over the last few months. The events started when the app struck its 100,000 user token limit, which lead to the developer toreset user tokens in an effort to reallocate them to active users. Eventually, all of the tokens were consumed again, in part to the addition of multi-account support, and another "reset" was announced. It turns out that the plan was to quietly spread some people to a brand new API key. Unfortunately, Twitter blocked most users from signing in with the new key, and Joaquim Verge, the developer of Falcon Pro, pulled it from the Play Store until a better solution could be found.

Today, a new chapter in the story began as an announcement on the Falcon Pro Beta Testers community appeared stating that updates will now launch through the website getfalcon.pro, starting with v2.0.4. Also in the post was a hint about an "experiment" that would allow users who havent acquired a valid token to still use the app with all of their accounts. A short time later,instructions to unlock the new feature were posted by Fernando González. As one might expect, the workaround allows users to create their own API key with Twitter and insert it into Falcon Pro. If you find yourself limited by the notorious token count, update your copy of the app and follow these steps:

On your device or computer:

1. Visit https://dev.twitter.com and sign in (it doesnt matter what account you use for this step)
2. Click on the "My applications" link in the dropdown under your picture.
   
3. Click on "Create a new application"
4. Fill in a unique name (you may have to try a few names before you get one that hasnt been claimed), a description, and URLs for the Website and Callback. It doesnt matter what URL you are using, but it must be correctly formed (http://something.com).
5. Check the box to agree to the "Developer Rules Of The Road", fill out the captcha, and click the button to finish.
6. Click on the "Settings" tab and change the Application Type to "Read, Write and Access direct messages," then click the Update button at the bottom of the page.
   
7. Switch back to the "Details" tab and copy the values for "Consumer key" and "Consumer secret."

In Falcon Pro:

1. Go to the login screen (logout if youre logged in)
2. Tap all four corners to light up the squares (see screenshots), then tap the orange one (bottom left) to turn it back off.
3. Shake your phone/tablet. Yes, really, start shaking it until a dialog box pops up saying "Custom login unlocked!"
4. Tap on "Custom login"
5. Fill in "Consumer Key" and "Consumer Secret" with the values you got from creating your Twitter API key. These are long, case-sensitive strings, so be careful to copy them precisely.
6. Needless to say, Twitter probably wont be happy about this turn of events. Fortunately for us, there isnt a lot the company can do without shutting down API access for all 3rd party clients or restricting new API keys. As more clients reach the dreaded token limit, this approach will probably become increasingly common. Hopefully, the powers that be will overlook this loophole or reconsider the policy all together.

New hardware without a software refresh? Dont make Jeff Bezos laugh. Todays arrival of three new slates also marks the unveiling of the companys latest tablet operating system. And this time, it even has a name. See, Amazons been using "Fire OS" internally to describe the software powering its tablet line, and now we get to use it as well, with the arrival of version 3.0. As ever, Bezos and Co. have based the OS on Android (Jelly Bean, this time out), with this years codename being "Mojito" -- a move from candy names to sugary cocktails. The operating system will ship on the new HDX and HD devices. We werent able to confirm that it will roll out to older devices, but an Amazon rep we spoke with implied that theres a good chance of that, given earlier precedents.
First things first: theres still no Google Play access. No surprise there, of course. After all, the companys in the habit of subsidizing the cost of its hardware based on future content sales. Still, as ever, the company was quick to point out the speed with which its proprietary app store has grown in recent years. UI-wise, things look familiar. Content is still king, with the home screen built around a river of apps, games, movies, music, et cetera. The company did respond to customer concerns, however, by adding a more familiar grid-style layout that you can access with a swipe up, which should appease all you Android users out there. Swipe from the right, and youll see Quick Switch, which lets you switch between different recently used pieces of content.
The new feature that had Bezos particularly giddy is Mayday. The buttons based in the Quick Settings (also accessible with a swipe), alongside options for Auto-Rotate, Brightness, Wireless, Quiet Time (to shut off those nagging notifications, when youre doing things like reading). The feature bakes a live, human help module directly into the OS (on the HDX, at least -- the HD doesnt have a mic to support it). A little box will pop up with a real, live person on the other end. You can see them, but they can only see your screen -- and, if prompted, theyll pause their end, so they cant see you do things like entering passwords.

Amazons utilizing its existing army of help technicians for the feature, and will likely be employing even more folks for the inevitable Christmas crunch. Help comes in the form of asking to adjust settings or less-serious things like getting game recommendations. The Amazon employee can either take you through the steps by drawing some Monday Night Football-style circles and arrows on the screen, or they can just do it for you. Its a really promising feature, for sure, particularly for Amazons sizable user base of kids and some non-tech-savvy grownups. Well admit, however, that it took a little getting used to talking to someone in that way, particularly when they couldnt see us back -- though many times thatll likely be for the best.
Second Screen is Amazons big push to get people to use their Fires in front of their TVs. The feature "flings" content to your set, by way of your PlayStation 3 / 4 or Samsung smart TV. More content partners are coming, as well. When we asked specifically about Chromecast, we just got a "stay tuned," however. The content itself isnt actually streamed from the tablet. Instead, the set is pulling it down from the cloud, but you can still use your Fire to control it. Once the content is flung, youll get contextual information by way of X-Ray, which now also features the names of songs that are playing, character names and trivia from Amazons IMDb service. Speaking of X-Ray, 3.0 brings X-Ray Music, which includes lyrics licensed (not crowdsourced, mind) by Amazon. Youll be able to see them whether or not youre online.

As with the Paperwhite, Goodreads is now built in -- or at least it will be by the time 3.1 rolls around. Once that 3.1 upgrade starts rolling out over the air (sometime in mid-November), Goodreads will offer the ability to share quotes, review titles and get recommendations as youre reading the book. Reading Mode, meanwhile, turns off unnecessary processes while your nose is in a book, giving you up to 17 hours of life on the HDX devices. The company is using Mojito to make a big push toward enterprise users, for those who prefer to take their personal device to work. Theres support for wireless printing for documents, email with threaded messaging and support for enterprise services like VPN and Kerberos authentication. Amazon is also talking up the ease of developing for the operating system, when it comes to porting over apps from Android, thanks to support for Native Android App Compatibility.
